The CMP Fire rated CAT6 cable was difficult to use as a first-timer since it is very stiff so you have to apply more human hands when putting cable along high ceilings long distances and behind walls. The cable cutter device works really well. I wasn’t able to find the Load Bar cat6 unshielded until I went to support who found it for me. Do yourself a favor don’t cise connectors unless you have the Load Bar. It made it so easy to get the configuration right the first time as the wires are very hard to handle. I would purchase more products from TrueCable going forward for my network projects in the future.

Q:I have some Dynacom e90 keystone connectors (modular jacks). The wire I am using is cat6 23ga unshielded wire (Genesis Brand)
(My Ideal cat5 Cat5a connectors fit the keystones Very tightly, in a cat6 keystone don't seem proper).
1). are your standard unshielded cat6 Rj45 the proper connectors to use?
2). can pass thru connectors be used & trimmed with a standard crimper and the wires trimmed separately with a razor blade or is this a bad practice?

A:1) It is difficult to recommend plug fitments for cables and plugs from different manufacturers. However, the fitment of an RJ45 plug to an RJ45 jack is highly standardized and does not vary between cable Categories. That said, a crimp-on plug will not fit properly into a jack until after it is crimped. Otherwise, the uncrimped golden contacts will protrude and interfere with the plug's insertion.
2) Razor blades are thinner and less robust than the blade on a pass-through tool. Also, the blade's throw is limited, so the plastic body of the plug is pierced a maximum of 1mm. The force required to cut copper with a razor blade will make it difficult to control what else is cut, endangering your installation and your hands.

Q:Do these have a strain latch?

A:Yup. ALL of our plugs have a strain latch EXCEPT for our Cat6/6A External Ground Shielded Plug. In that plug's case, it has the CUT OUT for the strain latch presser bar found in our AIO crimp tool, but just no actual strain latch in the plug. Therefore, for ANY of our plugs you would keep the strain latch presser bar on/engaged on our AIO crimp tool. Hope that clarifies it.

Q:Will those crimp perfectly with a Klein Tool Crimper (VDV226-110), or is it meant to be crimped by your TrueCrimp tool only ?

A:Hello. Yes, these unshielded load bar RJ45 connectors can be crimped with any standard quality crimp tool, including your Klein VDV-226-110.
